Types Of Acne
Acne is among the most common diseases of the skin. It afflicts both men and women, young and old. Even some babies suffer from acne.
One possible reason for this is the fact that the skin is the largest organ of the body and it is exposed to various germs and microbes.
More than that, there are actually different types of acne.
So if you are suffering from acne, one of the first things that you should know is the type of acne you have. This way, you will know how to treat it properly. To give you a better understanding of the types of acne, here are some of them for starters.
Inflammatory vs. Non-Inflammatory Acne
There are two general types of acne—inflammatory and non-inflammatory. Under these categories are a number of other acne types.
This is one form of acne that is actually between inflammatory and non-inflammatory. They are typical pimples that you see—with mild inflammation but do not exhibit redness, neither do they contain pus.
If you are suffering from this most common type, then you probably have blackheads as well as white heads. Do not worry though because this acne is not serious. More so, treating it can be very easy. You can use over the counter medication or prescribed medicine from your dermatologist.
If you have small acne that is filled with pus, do not ever pinch or squeeze them. Otherwise, this can lead to cystic acne. This can bring about pain due to inflammation that is already deep rooted.
Another item in the list of types of acne is the Acne Rosacea. This is actually common among the middle aged adults. If you have this acne, you will notice a reddening of your nose. This is because of inflamed bumps.
Aside from that, the areas commonly infected with this type of acne are the chin as well as the forehead. Hence, the face will look flushed. When this advances to the severe stage, the affected person can suffer from a bulbous nose, a condition known as rhinofima.
If you notice small pustules or papules forming on your chin, mouth or near the forehead and eyelids, you may be suffering from perioral dermatitis. This can be due to fluorinated toothpaste. Using steroids can also cause this type of acne.
This is the type of acne that develops in the scalp. Oily hair and poor hygiene can be the reasons behind this type of acne. You can just treat this through using acne-fighting shampoo.
As mentioned above, even babies can suffer from acne. This is especially observed in newborns. If your baby is suffering from this acne, do not worry because it is just mild. It may actually disappear after a couple of weeks.
